The Deal

Okay, so here is what has been up with school. It seems like there is always something that goes wrong.

So, I have this class about teaching. As part of the class, we have to teach. So, three hours a week are spent learning about teaching and three hours are spend at U-High using our new found knowledge. We register for each part seperately.

I went to my class Monday night and learn that my teacher is Dr. Benson. Then I also find out that she is my "mentor teacher person" (the teacher I spend the three hours a week with at U-High). She tells me that I can't have the same teacher for both the class and the U-High lab and I need to drop her class.

Here is my problem. My schedule is not so flexible that I can just be like "Hey, I think I am just going to drop this class and maybe add this one..." Also, there is no way I could have know while registering that I had the same teacher and, more importantly, known it was going to be a problem. Personally, I don't think she should teach both if things like this would be a problem.

The good news is I have switched out of her class but she is still my mentor teacher person. Hopefully, we can start to get along better. Also, my new teacher is being very understanding and realizing that it isn't my fault. He is meeting with me individually to catch me up on the two weeks I missed.

The bad news is that I no longer have Tuesday nights free. That is when we have singing practice. Now I am sad and Dwight is probably more stressed. I feel really bad about all of this :(

Wow, I just posted this post and you have already commented. You are a quick one Mrs. Diva.

I hope all is going well with your retreat planning. Let me know if you need any creative insight since I am so good at that (insert uncertainty here).

Do they still make you register over the phone? I have vivid memories of having my classes all worked out on paper, only to scramble last-minute as I kept hearing "Bowm, Bowm. Course request is denied. The section is closed." And I will always remember the joyous sound of "Didleding!" as I got into the class I wanted. The memory of those sounds will haunt my dreams forever.

Yeah, so... this is the year 2005. We register on this new thing called the internet. Actually, it is what you are using to post comments to me.

Sorry I'm giving you a hard time Beaner!! But, if you would really like to see how it works I can show you next time we are around a computer together (as long as it has an internet connection). Its pretty cool... I can register from anywhere in the world!

Thanks Kate - now I'm feeling old. I heard they updated the cafeterias to food courts & that they even accept something called a "debit card" instead of cash! Amazing! I also heard that you don't have to walk from TriTowers to the Theatre Dept. (A 13 minute walk for me) I heard they have these motorized things called "buses" or a "shuttle". Bizarre.

I'm not old. I'm not old. I'm not old.

So far so good.

Talk to me in a few weeks when KK is bursting at the seams and can't breathe and we're down to one alto. Then I might just be on life support. :-)
